Yaro, a PR specialist, is appointed as the executive secretary of ZIPA by the Zamfara government

A resourceful Management and Public Relations expert, Hajia Mariam Yaro, has been appointed Executive Secretary of the Zamfara State Investment Promotion Agency by Governor Dauda Lawal (ZIPA).

Her Executive MBA and Post-Graduate Diploma (PGD) in Public Relations and Advertising were earned at the London School of Business and Management and the International Institute of Journalism, respectively.

The resourceful Management and Public Relations expert said she applies her personality and strategic management skills to everything she does to achieve the common goal, interest, and advancement of any organisation she leads.

She said she was “committed to human, personal development and national service.” Effective administrator, self-starter with strong analytical, organisational, and creative skills.”

Before becoming ZIPA Executive Secretary, Yaro was the Head of the Minimum Pension Guarantee Unit at the National Pension Commission, Abuja. She is from the Maru Local Government Area in Zamfara State.

She led the Corporate Responsibility and SERVICOM Department’s SERVICOM Unit and later joined the Commission’s Ministerial SERVICOM Unit (MSU), which ensures excellent service delivery. She and her team won the 2018 Best Team A. She later led the Commission’s Deceased Benefit Unit.

She joined Chevron Nigeria Limited’s Administration Department in the mid-1990s. The Petroleum Equalisation Fund Management Board employed her as a Public Relations Officer from February 1997 to August 2001. She then became a pioneer member of the Power Sector Reform Team at the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) until April 2007. (PSRT).

Later, Hajia Yaro worked with consultants on Phase 1 of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.

Yaro earned her first degree in biology. She studied at Sacred Heart Science School in Tunbridge Wells, England, for her A-Level and at Hunmanby Hall School in Yorkshire, England, for her GCSE in 1988. She has taken many Nigerian and international management courses.
