The National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria has offered to help revive Kaduna’s textile sector with Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
While greeting the governor in Kaduna on Monday, Comrade John Adaji, President of the Textile Workers Union, said that reforming the textile industry will ensure lasting peace and security in the state.
He stated that when the textile industry work, the army of unemployed youths on the streets will be employed, and the state will be secure.
Adaji believed Governor Sani could revitalize the state’s textile businesses.
“With his credentials as a pro-democracy activist and richness of knowledge in public administration and finance, we have no doubt that Governor Uba Sani would deepen the peace process and notably improve security in Kaduna State,” he stated.
But social fairness is necessary for peace and security. Sustained peace and development require immediate re-industrialization of Kaduna State and widespread employment of the army of unemployed youths.
“Our union is eager to cooperate with the new administration to restore the ailing industries in Kaduna State, notably the textile industries, to provide jobs for the bulk of unemployed youths in the state.
“As a private sector union associated with the Nigeria Labour Congress and a crucial stakeholder in the development of the state and the country, we desire to pledge our support and cooperation in the huge job of lifting Kaduna State and Nigeria to a higher level.
“Even opponents of the immediate past Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, will recognize the amazing effort of the past administration in road construction and restoration across the major cities of Kaduna.
“We are certain that the next administration will build on past successes and expand the road network and urban regeneration initiatives.
“On behalf of the National Executive Council of the National Union of Textile Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria and the bulk of our members, we congratulate the newly democratically elected Governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Uba Sani, on his successful election and inauguration.”
