Shehu Sani, a former senator from Kaduna, has outlined why he believes that talking to robbers would not be successful.
There have been rumours that several governors in Nigeria’s North West geopolitical region had previously engaged in conversations with bandits.
In order for the criminals to cease assaulting, kidnapping, and murdering peasants in their states, it was stated that the governors held a conversation with the criminals.
In a tweet on his account on Sunday, Sani provided three reasons why talking to the criminals won’t help.
Shehu Sani said these three factors would prevent dialogue with bandits from succeeding.
“Save for extortion via horrendous blackmail, kidnappings, and the cold-blooded killing of defenceless bystanders, they are not an armed organisation created for the pursuit of any religious, ethnic, or political goals.
“Two, they act as gangs and clusters rather than being unified under a single leadership.
“Three, they murder and kidnap people in order to make money.
Bandits are not like the Iswap and Boko elements, who carry out kidnappings, terrorist assaults, and massacres of innocent people in the name of religion.
Conversation with bandits could be a better use of time, according to the former politician who has transitioned into a type of social analyst.
“Those Governors who tried it eventually regretted it,” he continued.
