On Wednesday, July 19, 2023, Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State and a Labour Party presidential contender in the 2023 general election, would be 62. But he has opted not to celebrate his birthday because of his grave worries about the nation’s current status.

Obi expressed gratitude to God for His unending mercies in a series of tweets, but he also reiterated his over 20-year pledge not to spend his birthday in the country as it is right now.

Instead, he invited his friends, fellow Labour Party members, the OBIdient Family, and his supporters to use their goodwill towards needy people, especially in light of the current challenging circumstances.

He advised bringing presents while visiting hospitals, orphanages, nursing homes for the elderly, and facilities for people with disabilities. He also urged people to help schools in isolated locations by giving them the necessary amenities. The former governor of Anmbra urged individuals eager to help further to visit numerous Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps spread all over the nation.

Obi bemoaned the ongoing insecurity, murder, and bloodshed in the nation and believed that the leaders and influential people should make the first sacrifices for a better Nigeria.

He said he wanted to rejoice in a “New Nigeria” where youngsters had possibilities, and people’s lives and property were secure.
