Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, visited President Bola Tinubu at the State House in Abuja on Thursday to demonstrate that politics is over and the government is now.
Eno’s Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is contesting Tinubu’s presidency in court.
The Governor informed State House media that the visit was to congratulate Tinubu on his election victory and swearing-in and express unshakable support, dedication, and allegiance to the President and Nigeria.
To maximise democracy’s benefits for Akwa Ibom, he urged state and federal cooperation.
“Politics is done, government has begun,” he said. We must engage with the federal government to help Akwa Ibomites benefit from democracy. Standing apart prevents that.”
The Governor listed numerous areas where the state needs federal development assistance.
The Calabar-Itu road must be completed, he said.
Governor Eno also urged the President to fund the Ibom deep seaport project.
The state’s airport needs an export licence and a free zone to improve maintenance and repair.
Eno said the President promised to resolve these concerns after his inquiries.
Governor Eno said his deputy had delivered palliatives to all local government districts in the state following the gasoline subsidy reduction.
He also promised to work with Akwa Ibom petroleum marketers to discover more ways to help the people.
He promised to offset the subsidy removal’s effects.
“In the coming week, we will disclose a number of measures to protect our people and insulate them from the subsidy elimination,” he said. We’ll spare no effort to help them.”
