Peter Obi claims that Nigeria needs more guys like Charly Boy.

Charles, my lovely older brother, Chukwuemeka Oputa – As you commemorate your 73rd birthday anniversary, I am happy for you and want to say congratulations. You have continuously supported effective government in Nigeria.

“You boldly spoke up against injustice, corruption, and other social problems that threaten the stability and advancement of our country. In Nigeria, we need more guys with your qualities who will speak truth to power and hold the authorities responsible.

“I have been tortured and imprisoned for months,” says Charly Boy of his ordeal
Legendary musician and activist Charly Boy has spoken out about being beaten and imprisoned for months.

The Nigerian musician known as Area Father reflected on some of his earlier activism for good governance in Nigeria.

Charly Boy, who is well-known for founding the “Our Mumu Don Do” movement and for being vocal, shared a tale from the past on his Twitter page about how some security personnel imprisoned him for months because of his movement.

He asserts that he has seen it all and that some of his horrifying experiences dating back to 1966 have rendered him “soft as butter.”

“As a person, a citizen of this formerly magnificent nation and the Region Fada, I can claim that I have seen it all, and now I’m soft as butter,” he said in a tweet.

“I was a child when the Union Jack was extinguished. In 1966, I saw optimism die; in 1967, I witnessed the heinous devastation that followed.

“In 1999, my adored father paved the way for a country’s recovery. Since then, I’ve seen much more. I know how water gets into a coconut. Our senseless security force has brutalised me, used tear gas on me, kept me locked up for months, and made me impoverished.
