Kalidou Koulibaly, the captain of Senegal, had acknowledged his admiration for Victor Osimhen’s abilities and said that he knew the Nigerian striker was destined for success when he signed with Napoli three years ago, according to Soccernet.ng.
After joining Napoli in the summer of 2020, Osimhen rapidly became well-known there and won Koulibaly over with his prowess on the pitch.
Osimhen scored an amazing 10 goals in his debut season at Napoli, helping the club to a fifth-place finish.
He continued to excel last year, contributing to Napoli’s third-place finish with 14 goals scored. Yet, Osimhen just started to take off this past season.
He contributed significantly to Napoli winning their first Scudetto in 33 years with a phenomenal score of 26 league goals.
Naturally, a number of elite teams in Europe have taken notice of Osimhen’s outstanding achievements.
His extraordinary goal-scoring ability has attracted Chelsea, Manchester United, and PSG interest.
Koulibaly quietly urged Osimhen and his Napoli colleagues to stick with the team rather than look for better opportunities elsewhere despite this interest.
Koulibaly highlighted that he has no more advice to provide Osimhen since he left Napoli last summer to join Al-Hilal in Saudi Arabia.
“Osimhen? You could see he was a quality player, Koulibaly told Tutto Napoli, according to the Repubblica Daily.
“I attempted to assist him, but I am at a loss for words, even if we speak on the phone. I hope he never has regrets about choosing to remain in the blue jersey. Victor and I are both African. Therefore, his achievements make me even more pleased.
The fact that Napoli reportedly rejected a substantial multimillion-euro bid from PSG for Osimhen underscores the high esteem in which the young attacker is regarded.
