Victor Boniface is spared from the red card by VAR as Bayer Leverkusen continues to win

VAR came to the rescue of Victor Boniface during Bayer Leverkusen’s clash against Borussia Dortmund, ensuring he escaped a sending-off and remained on the pitch.

The referee initially issued a straight red card to Boniface following a scuffle while Leverkusen trailed Dortmund by a goal. However, upon consulting the VAR, the decision was overturned, sparing Boniface from expulsion altogether.

Avoiding the red card was crucial for Boniface, as it would have resulted in him missing at least two of the remaining four matches of the season.

Despite the initial setback, Leverkusen once again demonstrated their resilience by equalizing in the dying moments of the game, extending their unbeaten streak to 45 matches across all competitions.

Their next challenge lies in defending this remarkable record at home against third-placed Stuttgart on Saturday.
