Hon. Ikenga Ugochinyere, spokesman for the Coalition of United Political Parties (CUPP) and member-elect to the House of Representatives for Imo State’s Ideato North/South Federal Constituency, has expressed sorrow over the passing of High Chief Raymond Aleogho Anthony Dopkesi, founder and chairman of the AIT/Raypower FM.
Dokpesi passed away on Monday afternoon in Abuja, according to LEADERSHIP.
Ugochinyere praised Chief Dopkesi in a statement he personally signed as a patriotic Nigerian, brave democratic fighter, supporter, and soldier of free expression who would be dearly missed.
Ugochinyere claimed that he was shocked to learn of the media entrepreneur’s passing and claimed that he had left a void in the Nigerian media sector.
Ugochinyere conveyed his deepest sympathies to the AIT/Raypower family, the people, and the government of Edo State, especially the people of the Weppa-Wanno Kingdom of the State, while emphasising that the opposition in Nigeria will lower their flags in his honour.
“Chief Dokpesi will be missed,” he stated. As a pioneer in the media sector, High Chief Dokpesi used his network of outlets under the Daar Communication, which included Africa Independent Television (AIT), Ray Power FM, and Faaji FM, to advance good governance, educational initiatives, private entrepreneurship, and to promote access to information.
He also used these outlets to highlight the rich cultural heritage of our country, Nigeria, and Africa as a whole to the rest of the world. High Chief Dokpesi was a citizen of the world, and his passing is a great loss for both our beloved country and humanity as a whole.
