Kylian Mbappe showcased his brilliance with a double as Paris Saint-Germain rallied from behind to defeat 10-man Barcelona 4-1, securing a spot in the Champions League semi-finals with a 6-4 aggregate victory on Tuesday.

Despite Raphinha giving Barcelona an early lead, Ronald Araujo’s red card in the 29th minute shifted the momentum in PSG’s favour. Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha then equalised for PSG, setting the stage for Mbappe to seal their semi-final berth with two decisive goals.

PSG, despite their significant investment, have never lifted the Champions League trophy. However, their attacking prowess on display against Barcelona suggests they have the firepower to contend for the title.

Barcelona, aiming for their first semi-final appearance since 2019, saw their hopes dashed after Araujo’s dismissal for a foul on Bradley Barcola.

PSG coach Luis Enrique, formerly with Barcelona, expressed confidence in his team’s ability to overcome a first-leg deficit, a feat they achieved for the first time under his management.

Barcelona took an early lead through Raphinha’s goal, but PSG’s relentless pressure paid off as Dembele and Vitinha leveled the tie before Mbappe’s decisive contributions.

Mbappe’s celebration, running towards PSG fans after his second goal, may have added salt to Barcelona’s wounds, especially with rumours swirling about his potential move to Real Madrid.

With Barcelona unable to mount a comeback and PSG firmly in control, the Catalan side endured another bitter disappointment in European competition.
