On Tuesday, President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu grieved the loss of Nigerian journalism legend Peter Enahoro, saying his death ended a life of media brilliance.

Enahoro, known as “Peter Pan,” was the Daily Times’ Editor-in-Chief and Managing Director.

“As a prominent journalist, the late Enahoro helped Nigeria become a country via the media,” Tinubu said.

The President-communications elect’s officer, Tunde Rahman, called Enahoro a patriot who dedicated his life and journalism profession to building a better Nigeria where everyone may find happiness and fulfilment.

“The news of Mr. Peter Enahoro’s death at 88 caused regret since our society is always richer and enhanced by the knowledge of our venerable senior people like experienced journalists in the class of Peter Pan who moulded and changed history with the force of their writing,” he added.

“A novelist, businessman, and publisher, Mr. Enahoro will be remembered and treasured for his unshakeable confidence in Nigeria’s grandeur and for utilising media to promote good governance, rule of law, and social justice in our nation.

“His 1966 book, ‘How To Be A Nigerian,” will be a citizenship guide. Mr. Enahoro achieved much in media and nation-building, becoming editor of the prominent Sunday Times aged 23 in 1958, editor of the Daily Post in 1962, and editor-in-chief in 1966.

He became Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Times after returning from abroad in the 1990s. I offer my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and admirers of this great and dedicated Nigerian patriot, and I urge us all to follow his example. Nigeria and journalism benefited from Peter Pan. I wish him everlasting rest.”
