Tinubu reaches Nigeria from France.
Senator Jibrin Barau, a contestant for the Senate Presidency of the 10th National Assembly, has denied that President-elect Bola Tinubu’s health, which has been under examination, might undermine the new administration.
Barau said he was glad to see the ex-Lagos governor return.
Tinubu’s private plane landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, amid a huge assemblage of fans and allies.
His wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, and son, Seyi, joined him in a flowing blue agbada.
Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila, Governors Simon Lalong (Plateau), Abubakar Sani-Bello (Niger), and former Borno State Governor Ali Modu Sheriff greeted him at the airport.
Others were former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, ex-EFCC Chairman Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, APC Deputy National Chairperson for North Senator Abubakar Kyari, Deputy National Chairman for South Emma Enekwu, and National Women Leader Dr. Betta Edu.
An ecstatic Tinubu advised the boisterous crowd that accompanied him home to dismiss recent rumours that he had been taken overseas for his purported bad health.
After a busy election season, he took a vacation on March 21.
“I’m glad to be back,” he remarked. I’m rested and ready to work.
“Ignore the rumours.” I’m powerful.”
He also promised that he never stopped working in Paris, “consulting and preparing” to build a solid team to start his term on May 29.
Barau told the media at the presidential wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Monday evening that he trusted the president-elect enough to know he was up to the assignment.
“After his well-deserved recuperation in France, Tinubu looked ready to go,” he said.
“We are pleased to see our leader, our President-elect, returning with his lovely wife, looking so fresh and fit and ready to go.”
“Thousands of Nigerians are here, and they’re delighted. His return excites everyone. I’m delighted he’s back. He says he’s fit and eager to work. We trust his word. “We cannot expect less,” he said.
