At least three members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have expressed interest in running on the party’s ballot in the by-election that will determine the successor of Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
In the general elections of 2023, Gbajabiamila, who represents Surulere 1 Federal Constituency in Lagos State, was re-elected for a sixth term.
Upon returning to work as President Bola Tinubu’s Chief of Staff, the senator submitted his letter of resignation on Wednesday’s House of Representatives floor.
In a statement released earlier this month by the State House Director of Communications, Abiodun Oladunjoye, Gbajabiamila was introduced as the President’s Chief of Staff.
There are currently roughly three candidates for the Surulere 1 Federal Constituency, according to a person familiar with the shadowy politics taking place there.
According to the source, “there are roughly three contestants, including a lady.”
The source claims that Hon. Faud Laguda is one of those running as an APC candidate. According to reports, Laguda is the APC’s current chairman in the Surulere LGA.
