The Labour Party (LP), which has developed to be one of several primary political opposition events to the governing APC, will once more face the APC on the polling floor in the upcoming Imo State governorship election.
After an orderly governorship primary election on Saturday in Owerri, the Labour Party has finally chosen a candidate to face the current governor, Hope Uzodinma, in the elections.
The Labour Party is presenting Senator Athan Achonu, who received 134 votes and defeated his closest challenger, Main Normal Jack Ogunewe, who received 121 votes.
Senator Achonu purchased his senatorial title after being re-elected to the Senate in 2015 on the PDP ticket to represent Imo North. He is also a successful businessman with remarkable achievements in the economic sector.
Senator Achonu of the Labour Party may run against APC governor Hope Uzodinma, PDP Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and other candidates.
