The Nigerian Army has confirmed the incident involving two personnel from the 74 Supply and Transportation Brigade, 82nd (Airborne and Amphibious) Division. According to an army incident report obtained by SaharaReporters, Private Aliyu Musa Abdullahi was stabbed by his colleague, Private Yahaya Sani, at the Artisan New Market in Enugu State.

The report stated that Private Yahaya used a dagger to stab Private Aliyu in the head during a fight and quarrel. Private Aliyu is currently receiving treatment at the 82 Division DMSH, while Private Yahaya is in custody awaiting further action.

SaharaReporters previously reported that Yahaya allegedly stabbed Musa after Musa accused him of stealing. Musa claimed his phone went missing while they were together, and Yahaya was the last person seen with him. In the ensuing altercation, Yahaya reportedly disarmed Musa and stabbed him with a dagger.

This incident comes shortly after another soldier from the same division, Private Mohammed Adamu, fatally stabbed a pregnant woman, Miss Hauwakulu Tabra—the Army’s Director of Public Relations, Maj. Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu clarified that former insurgents had not been recruited into the Army. However, he acknowledged the enlistment of some members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) who demonstrated moral and patriotic conduct in the fight against terrorism and insurgency in the North East.
