The Tanzanian government is dedicated to creating a supportive environment for athletes to display their abilities through the development of sports infrastructure.
And this includes students, according to Tanzania’s Daily News.
Vice-President Philip Mpango was reported in the newspaper as saying: “The government invests in sports infrastructure and these grassroots competitions in schools to develop skills that build strong national teams for the international competitions.”
He noted that Samia Suluhu Hassan, the nation’s president, has committed to supporting athletes and seeing that the sports business thrives.
“At this time, we have finished upgrading the sporting facilities at Tabora Boys and Girls Secondary Schools, and we are getting ready to improve six more schools by installing artificial turf in those institutions.”
Within 18 months, the project’s implementation is expected to be finished.
The completion of this infrastructure, according to Mpango, “would allow students to play on top-notch fields and assist the development of gifted athletes.”
