Naija News claimed that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate in 2023, is considering joining the APC.
AbdulMajid Dan Bilki Kwamanda, a Buhari loyalist, told reporters at the NUJ secretariat in Kano.
The APC chairman claimed Kwankwaso cannot be trusted and always joins a political movement for personal benefit.
Kwamanda advised President-elect Bola Tinubu to reject Kwankwaso’s supposed APC membership.
In the February 25th, 2023 presidential election, Kwankwaso placed fourth behind the Labour Party’s Peter Obi, the PDP’s Atiku Abubakar, and the APC’s Tinubu, according to Naija News.
In his argument, Kwamanda warned that admitting the NNPP candidate into the APC would generate significant quarrels among party faithful.
Kwamanda remarked, “This move will not happen to the party.”
He said the party and people in the North had done their best for Tinubu’s rise as president, so he needed to recompense them, adding that politics in the North is difficult to influence by one person.
As an analyst, Kwamanda understands Kwankwaso is selfish and joins groups or parties for his own benefit, not the public’s, and that he would not benefit the APC.
He said that bringing Kwankwaso to the APC would betray Northerners, which would hurt Tinubu in politics.
He denied that Kwankwaso’s arrival will hurt Vice President-elect Kashim Shettima, stating that Shettima is far higher in national politics.
On the 10th National Assembly, he declared only the Northwest deserved the Senate President and that the South-South had no right to criticise as they didn’t join the new government.
They opposed the Muslim-Muslim ticket. When Jonathan’s president, Senate president, and deputy were Christians, they didn’t consider it. Barau Jibrin should be Senate president in the North today. “This is our decision and what we’re calling for,” he stated.
Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the party’s national chairman, should cease advocating for zoning, he said, since northerners won’t accept it and it won’t help the party.
