He said this will follow international standards for domestic and global consumers. The director-general, Ms. Amina Haliru, stressed the need of standardisation in reaching the aim. He examined SON’s efforts to establish worldwide halal standards for Nigeria.
He then studied ways to guarantee that products and services fulfilled customer expectations and met requirements to permit worldwide market access. Salim said SON has formed a team to collaborate with key agencies and stakeholders to launch the Halal business in Nigeria.
He said the committee’s Halal industry plan and milestones will expose Nigeria to the globe. The trillion-dollar Halal World Market will benefit Nigeria’s economy, he claimed. He said that the Organization has opened a Training Center in Kano to teach Nigerian firms and industries in Halal Certificates.
Amb. Maryam Katagum, Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, commended the committee on its progress. Katagum said the Industry’s launch will help the ministry facilitate commerce and promote Nigeria’s industrial sector. She then pledged the Ministry’s full support for the programme.
