The Principal of Sultan Abubakar College, Sokoto, Muhammad Zayyanu Umar, has submitted 15 papers to the governorship election tribunal in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State, to refute the assertion that Senator Umar Abubakar graduated in 1979.

During cross-examination by attorneys for the governor and deputy governor, the principal stated that the school did not have any records to support the testimonial that the college allegedly gave him because his name was not on the list of 1979 college graduates.

General Aminu Bande (Rtd), the PDP gubernatorial candidate, is contesting the APC’s Governor Nasiru Idris and his Deputy, Umar Abubakar, in Kebbi State’s recent general election before the tribunal.

Once the tribunal acknowledged his 15 papers, the respondents’ counsels cross-examine the principal.

The principal testified that based on the records he gave to the tribunal, the results of 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982 did not bear the name Umar Abubakar, who claimed to be a graduate of the institution in 1979.

According to his Sultan Abubakar College principal records, the deputy governor did not graduate in 1979.

Abdulsamad Hamzat Yisa, a director in the Sokoto State Ministry of Education, testified before the tribunal that the ministry set up a committee to examine the principal but determined that the principal’s office and Nura Bello and Co chambers’ correspondences were in order.
