Rounds of oil block bid rounds: NUPRC guarantees favourable conditions to prospective purchasers

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu virtually inaugurated three gas projects in Imo and Delta states on Tuesday. These projects, spearheaded by NNPC Limited and its partners, are located in Ohaji-Egbema, Imo State, and Kwale, Delta State.

The commissioned projects encompass the expansion of the AHL Gas Processing Plant, the ANOH Gas Processing Plant, and the 23.3km ANOH to Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Custody Transfer Metering Station Gas Pipeline Projects.

President Tinubu reiterated his administration’s commitment to harnessing Nigeria’s abundant gas resources to rejuvenate industrial growth and catalyze economic prosperity. He highlighted the significant increase in domestic gas supply resulting from these projects, which translates into enhanced power generation capacity and industrial revitalization.

The President emphasized his administration’s strategic focus on leveraging gas for economic development, citing initiatives such as the Presidential Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Initiative and Presidential Executive Orders aimed at incentivizing gas development.

Acknowledging the contributions of NNPC Limited, Sterling Oil Exploration & Energy Production Company Limited (SEEPCO), and Seplat Energy, President Tinubu urged NNPC Limited to sustain its efforts in the energy sector for the benefit of all Nigerians.

He hailed the commissioning as a crucial milestone in Nigeria’s quest for energy sufficiency and industrial growth, aligning with the Federal Government’s Decade of Gas initiative and efforts to eliminate gas flaring.

The President assured investors of the government’s commitment to facilitating an enabling environment for investment in the energy sector.

In his address, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources (Gas) Rt. Hon. Ekperikpe Ekpo commended President Tinubu’s leadership and highlighted gas’s pivotal role in achieving clean energy efficiency and security by 2060.

Mr. Mele Kyari, NNPC’s GCEO, described the commissioning as a testament to the President’s dedication to domestic gas utilization for power generation and industrialization. He reiterated NNPC Ltd’s commitment to executing strategic gas projects to enhance energy security and foster national development.
