Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has been criticized on social media for his excessive number of appointments three months into office.
He added 52 Special Advisers, Senior Special Assistants (SSA), and Special Assistants (SA) to his political team.
The governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sanusi Bature, said the 52 new SSAs and SAs were part of Kabir’s “efforts to reposition public service and secure the inclusion of youngsters in administering his administration.”
Bature appointed 29 aides in June, fulfilling the governor’s campaign commitment to recruit respectable people to his ministry.
“The nominations take effect immediately; all appointees are required to perform their tasks with the greatest degree of commitment and attention,” the statement continues. The determining factors were merit, commitment, and devotion to serving Kano’s excellent people.
Among the new special advisers and their responsibilities include Garba Dirbunde (Local Government Issues), Wakili Aliyu Garko (Diaspora Problems), Air Commodore Yusha’u Salisu Tudunwada Wada, Rtd.
