Omoyele Sowore, the 2023 African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate, believes the Department of State Service (DSS) would release suspended Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor Godwin Emefiele after charging him with possessing a single-barrel shotgun without a license.
Sowore tweeted that Emefiele’s incarceration was not related to his purported major offenses but rather to those in authority.
The presidential aspirant stated Emefiele’s arrest would implicate several key people in the Mohammadu Buhari government and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He claimed that since former NSA Col. Sambo Dasuki was arrested, prosecuted, and then released, that has been the trend.
The DSS imprisoned Emefiele for weeks on terrorist charges.
Sowore wrote, “For those who may not be aware of the modus of the @OfficialDSSNG, holding @GodwinIEmefiele has nothing to do with the seriousness of his high crimes; the game is to detain him on behalf of those in power.
If @GodwinIEmefiele was prosecuted for his genuine financial crimes, economic sabotage, money laundering, terrorist funding, FX round-tripping, etc.
He would bring down @MBuhari, his family, in-laws, inner circle, many @OfficialAPCNg leaders, state governors, Senators, media practitioners, military and police top brass, and even @OfficialDSSNG @officialEFCC, and civil society. Many would fall. This is the “holding charge” while discussions continue!
“Above is identical to how they began with former NSA Col. Sambo Dasuki, who was originally charged with unlawful possession of guns, precisely in August 2015! He stated.
