FC Barcelona’s head coach, Xavi Hernandez, is pulling out all the stops for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League quarterfinal second leg against Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite holding a narrow 3-2 aggregate lead from the first leg at the Parc des Princes, Xavi remains cautious, acknowledging PSG’s formidable stature as one of the world’s best teams, led by one of the top coaches, Luis Enrique.

Emphasizing the need for bravery against such a strong opponent, Xavi hinted at a bold lineup decision. Despite a recent injury setback, the Spain international midfielder is poised to start, forming a pivotal midfield trio alongside Frenkie de Jong and Pedri, with Ilkay Gundogan also playing a crucial role.

Xavi highlighted the importance of control and precise passing, qualities exemplified by Pedri and Gundogan, particularly in dictating the tempo of the game. He stressed the significance of exploiting space and time against PSG’s intense style, expressing confidence in his midfield’s ability to seize the opportunity.

With most of the squad fresh from a weekend rest, only Pau Cubarsi and Marc-Andre ter Stegen are not rotated, providing stability in defence and goalkeeping. Cubarsi partners Ronald Araujo in central defence while Joao Cancelo and Jules Kounde flank the backline.

The attacking lineup mirrors the previous encounter, with Raphinha retaining his position on the left wing after his standout performance in the first leg, supported by Lamine Yamal on the opposite flank and Robert Lewandowski leading the line upfront.
