Peter Obi and the Labour Party’s Presidential Election Petition Court petition challenging Bola Tinubu’s election has been halted.
An erroneous sequence of papers submitted to the court as evidence of the February 25 presidential election malpractices caused this latest development.
On Thursday, the court noted anomalies in Benue State’s 23 LGAs’ paperwork.
While attempts to reconcile failed, Chief Emeka Okpoko, SAN, counsel to Obi and the Labour Party, was found to have illegally used unfiled documents to conduct the hearings.
The court then stopped hearing the petition and ordered the legal team to re-file the schedule of documents according to the pre-hearing report.
Peter Obi, Datti Baba Ahmed, and LP leaders were in court to watch the proceedings.
While Obi’s legal team reconciled its materials, the petition’s five Justices, lead by Justice Haruna Simon Tsammani, retired to their chambers.
