Ndubuisi Nwobu, a supporter of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate in the elections on February 25, has disclosed how Peter Obi, the candidate of the Labour Party, manipulated the poll in Anambra State.
Nwobu said that “magic happened to the votes of the PDP candidate at several collation centres” in a statement made on Wednesday to the presidential election tribunal.
According to the Independent Electoral Commission’s results, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress received 5, 111 votes, Atiku received 9,036 votes, and Peter Obi received 584, 621 votes in Anambra.
Nwobu, the Anambra PDP chairman and the state collation agent for the party, stated in court during the hearings that the presiding officers did not upload the vote counting results.
On election day, he claimed to have visited about 30 of the 4,720 polling places in the state.
He allegedly said that he was compelled to sign the election result sheet at the state collation centre since he wouldn’t have received a copy if he didn’t, according to Punch.
As it became clear that I wouldn’t receive a copy if I didn’t sign the result sheet, Nwobu responded, “I did so.”
“Voting units entered the results. But, attempts to have the presiding officer upload it to IREV were unsuccessful.
Nwobu responded “yes” when asked if PDP representatives signed the result sheets at the polling places before they were brought to the collation centre.
“They were brought to the ward level collation centre. Magic began to happen there, he claimed.
“Presiding officials at the voting places had issues.”
He said that, on occasion, he had to step in to stop voters and other party representatives from assaulting INEC employees.
Nwobu said, “Even in some instances, I had to step in to prevent some of the poll workers from being attacked by voters and other political party agents.
The eleventh witness for Atiku to appear before the five-person panel presided over by Haruna Tsammani is Nwobu.
