PDP: Supreme Court will overturn ruling regarding presidential election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hopes the Supreme Court will overturn the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) ruling that confirmed President Bola Tinubu’s victory.

The Board of Trustees (BoT) Chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara, stated this in the closing communique of the 75th meeting in Abuja yesterday.

The BoT reiterates its rejection of the PEPC’s ruling that the APC won the presidential election despite the evidence.

Wabara said the BoT would urgently resist the All Progressives Congress (APC desperation) to make Nigeria a one-party state.

He added that the BoT believed the Supreme Court had the courage and capacity to correct the wrongs and the PEPC judgment’s manifest errors.

He praised PDP presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar for following due process to win the mandate.

Wabara expressed concern over the hardship, insecurity, and national apprehension caused by APC policies.

It lamented the country’s poverty. It warned that the situation could “snowball into a serious crisis if not urgently addressed.”

The communique stated that “the BoT expressed serious concerns over the excruciating hardship, worsening insecurity, and a general sense of apprehension and despondency across the country caused by the overtly insensitive APC administration’s hasty implementation of ill-planned policies.”

The BoT is concerned about the continued fall in the Naira due to the APC’s poorly implemented policies, which have a devastating negative impact on the economy, high costs, and unbearable pressure on families.

“The BoT laments that the APC is pushing Nigerians to the wall and worries that the poverty and anger in the polity over the APC’s suppressive rule could balloon into a serious crisis if not urgently addressed.”

Wabara also expressed concern about the country’s situation, saying Nigerians looked to the PDP for guidance.

He said the BoT assures Nigerians that despite the challenges, the PDP remains united, stronger, and more determined to lead the charge to rescue our democracy and return our nation to credible elections, rule of law, national cohesion, and economic prosperity.
