The Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Oyo State, Commandant Augustine Padonu, has reiterated the commitment of the NSCDC to ensuring a secure and fair electoral atmosphere in the country.

In a statement issued on Friday by the command and made available to journalists in Ibadan regarding the April 27 local government elections in Oyo State, Commandant Padonu emphasized the need for security operations to be initiated by all Area Commanders and Divisional Officers within their respective jurisdictions.

He stressed that this is to guarantee the successful conduct of the April 27 election, which will be conducted by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

Commandant Padonu highlighted the NSCDC’s critical role in ensuring a secure and conducive environment for the electoral process, emphasizing the importance of upholding peace and security during the election period.

He declared that the NSCDC is committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct and ethical practices, underscoring the organization’s dedication to fostering a secure and fair electoral atmosphere.

“NSCDC, Oyo State Command, remains steadfast in its commitment to safeguarding the democratic process and upholding the peace and security of the State, working in close collaboration with the relevant authorities to ensure a smooth and successful Local Government election,” he said.
