The Muslim community in Abia and throughout the country has received congratulations from Abia State Governor Alex Otti as they commemorate the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
In a goodwill message on June 28, Otti expressed his happiness with the Muslim community as they celebrated Eid-el-Kabir, the most significant religious holiday in the Islamic calendar. Otti noted that this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration in the state is unique as it is the first to be observed under the new administration.
He expressed his gratitude to the state’s Muslim population for their tremendous assistance in assisting him in becoming the new governor of Abia State.
According to the governor, “I, therefore, would want to take this memorable occasion to express my profound gratitude to the Muslim population in our state for their enormous support that contributed to the establishment of this new government.”
He urged them to remain faithful and support the leadership of the state in prayer as he worked to rebuild the state and create an environment that is conducive to everyone being able to live, work, and prosper in the same way that the great Prophet Ibrahim demonstrated his loyalty to God even to the point of sacrificing his son.
In order to advance the state, Governor Otti also used the occasion to urge all Abian citizens, including the state’s Muslim community, to uphold the law and coexist peacefully with their neighbours.
He cautioned state citizens from engaging in criminal activity that would put them at odds with security organisations.
Otti asked Abians to be law-abiding, live in peace with their neighbours, and refrain from any criminal acts that would put them at odds with security forces. “So, I, once again, take the occasion of this Eid-el-Kabir celebration to call on all Abians,” he said.
