In order to fill open positions in the state’s education, health, and other subsectors, Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State has started a personnel audit of the whole public sector.
Malam Olawale Rasheed, the Governor’s spokesperson, said this in a statement on Saturday in Osogbo.
According to the statement, the exercise began on Friday in the Governor’s office with the biometric capture of the Governor, his deputy, and the Speaker of the House of Assembly.
In order to assure the preservation and fulfilment of the interests of all stakeholders, it was claimed that a closed-door meeting with state labour leaders preceded data collection.
According to the statement, the Governor reaffirmed that the exercise wasn’t intended as a witch hunt but rather to improve the state’s ability to meet the requirements of its leadership, citizens, and employees.
“The personnel audit is not a witch hunt, I want to reassure employees and other stakeholders.
“The workforce’s well-being is the top priority for our administration’s governance strategy. Thus, we will only do something that will harm both official and informal employees.
“The audit is intended to accomplish a variety of objectives, including clearing up the payroll system, verifying the real number of state employees, and identifying areas of vacancy across several public service sectors.
“Our workforce’s data has to be verified. Also, we must ensure open positions in the public sector.
“I already issued a directive to compile job openings for teachers and healthcare professionals. The collection is almost finished. The results will allow us to manage our public service using data.
“We’re figuring out how many instructors our schools will require. Our team is examining the number of teachers in the various subjects, including science, English, math, social studies, and others, as well as which schools need specific kinds of instructors.
“I tell the public that we are aware of the open positions in our health and educational institutions.
The Governor said, “the audit report will offer a firm platform for our administration’s recruitment of new teachers and health professionals following the continuing exercise.”
