The Oyo State Government has announced restrictions on movement during Saturday’s local government election to facilitate the smooth conduct of the poll by the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). The restrictions will be in effect from 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with only providers of essential services exempted.

The election, scheduled to take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., will determine councillorship and chairmanship positions across the state’s 33 local government areas.

In a verified update on its official channel on Friday evening, the government emphasized the importance of adhering to the movement restrictions to ensure the integrity and efficiency of the electoral process.

Meanwhile, citizens across various sectors continue to express their expectations from the government. IT expert Ibrahim Mukhtar stresses the need for inclusive and sustainable development, with a focus on addressing healthcare, education, environmental concerns, and economic disparities. He calls for transparent governance and policies that prioritize job creation and environmental conservation.

Similarly, schoolteacher Mrs. Adekoya Eunice emphasizes the importance of prioritizing the welfare of the masses. She urges the government to increase salaries for civil servants, improve security to ensure citizens’ safety, and make essential commodities more affordable for the general populace.
