As the Super Eagles seek a fourth Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title, stand-in captain Kenneth Omeruo is confident in their abilities. In an exclusive report by IWITNESSLIVE Sports Extra, Omeruo believes in the Super Eagles and wants to lead them to victory.

The Super Eagles have won three AFCON titles. They won on home soil in 1980, then in Tunisia and South Africa in 1994 and 2013. Omeruo wants to add to this rich history.

The 34th AFCON will be held January 13–February 11, 2024. Ivory Coast will host the tournament in five cities. Omeruo and his teammates are focused on winning this prestigious event.

The Super Eagles were drawn into Group A on a lively Thursday in Abidjan. Their opponents will be hosts Ivory Coast, Equatorial Guinea, and Guinea-Bissau. The colourful ceremony began a journey of hopes, dreams, and the unwavering belief that the Super Eagles can win the African continent again.

Omeruo told the NFF media that the Eagles could win the title again with their talent, adopting the slogan ‘Let’s Do It Again’ as their battle cry for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title early next year.

Our group matters because you should be in an easy group to win and find your way in football. However, if we have a winning mentality, it doesn’t matter who we play, and I’m excited to learn about our opponents.

“I believe we can win the AFCON, but we must take every game step by step and create the winning mentality the coach mentioned. I’ve played against Fisayo (Dele-Bashiru) in Turkey, and the coach has brought in top players.

In a Wednesday statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation, the Eagles said they were ready to win the AFCON title again in Ivory Coast 10 years after their last win.
