Osun State monarch Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, has admonished government personnel and politicians against hoarding public aid.

Akanbi said officials implicated are cursed and would face God’s wrath.

In Iwo on Monday, the monarch warned journalists while distributing food to people experiencing poverty.

If any government or political officer hoards palliative, I believe it is a curse, stated the monarch. People should avoid God’s wrath throughout Ramadan and Easter.

“You cannot finish that food alone. Only death awaits. Instead, please give it to the needy like I am. This is leadership! I want to raise kings, so treat the people as kings.

Oba Akanbi also urged wealthy Nigerians to help the underprivileged.

We urge Nigerians to aid their neighbours during this period of rebirth, when digging new foundations is challenging.

“The rich should help the poor so we can grow together, fight corruption, and help people in hard times. They should know we support the government, and those who have should do too.”

He encouraged one-on-one meetings between traditional rulers and their subjects and called on other traditional rulers to serve as a conduit between the government and the people.

Traditional rulers connect state government to the people. I met with my people one-on-one. I’m not sending people to them; we want the government to know that traditional rulers can meet their people in their homes.

Traditional rulers can reach out. Traditional kings can contact their people if they are sincere.
