The chairman of the board of directors at Ala Resort Ltd, Professor Wole Olanipekun, has expressed his belief in the beneficial effects of the investment’s presence on the South-West of Nigeria’s overall economic growth. He announced this at the Tuesday ground-breaking ceremony for the Akure Airport Aerotropolis development project.
The Akure airport is the project’s focal point and will act as its main motivator, according to Professor Olanipekun.
Its development into a postmodern Aerotropolis, a multipurpose business hub, a residential refuge, and a vacation and tourism destination with safe, simple, unrestricted, and seamless connection to the global community, will depend on carefully planned world-class infrastructure.
The excellent effect this project’s presence will have on the economic development of neighbouring states, particularly Ekiti and Osun, by drawing attention to their tremendous but mostly untapped economic potential, is another noteworthy byproduct.
According to remarks made by Captain Rabiu Yadudu, managing director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the resort is a game-changer and will bring in money for the state.
When entirely constructed, he continued, it will create enough job opportunities to lower the unemployment rate in Ondo State specifically drastically and Nigeria generally.
The Ala Resort project will also establish a premier business hub that draws talent and enterprises worldwide, promotes innovation, and stimulates economic progress. This is the quickest method to boost aircraft, cargo, and passenger traffic at Akure Airport and gradually transform it into an international airport.
He applauded the project’s promoters for collaborating with all parties, including the federal government, state government, local community, and business organisations, to guarantee that the project had sufficient local content.
However, he urged the project’s stakeholders to remain dedicated to its success and make sure that it fulfils its commitments.
The governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, expressed his gratitude to the initiative’s supporters for delivering such a significant investment to the state in his goodwill message.
He said that the resort is a luxury facility for tourists to give them comfort, speaking through his deputy, Honourable Lucky Ayedatiwa. He underlined that the alternative would bring many chances and generate income for the state while promising to establish an environment that would help the resort succeed.
Otunba Niyi Adebayo, CON, Minister of Trade and Commerce, commended the Oba Ile community for their investment in the area. He also praised FAAN for suggesting such an innovative idea.
The Oba Ile Oloba, Oba In his acceptance speech, Joseph Oluwadare Agunbiade expressed his joy that the ventures would significantly advance the airport, Oba-Ile, Ondo state in particular, and the country in general.
The monarch said, “We look forward to this initiative bringing employment to so many people, especially indigenous people and members of the Oba-Ile community,” through Ms. Stella Kosemani. We are sure that this will boost Ondo state’s economy as a whole. The Oba-Ile people are a peaceful community who are willing to work with investors to develop their property.
