Ogun and Delta chairmen are expelled by the NNPP for anti-party behaviour

The New Nigeria People’s Party’s national leadership fired Ogun and Delta state chairmen Sunday Oginni Olaposi and Efe Tobor.

Today in Abuja, Oginni was dismissed for financial irregularities and other misconduct, notably after the state’s recent gubernatorial election.

After a National Working Committee meeting, Dr. Agwo Major, the NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, confirmed the expulsion in a communiqué.

Dr. Major called Oginni and Delta State colleague Dr. Efe Tobor’s expulsion depressing, citing anti-party behaviour.

He stated Oginni and other party members publicly supported other parties in the past election.

You’ll agree that no respectable party would tolerate such behaviour.

Sadly, certain state chairmen and executives were accused of many wrongdoings that violated their oath of office.

The National Working Committee formed a Disciplinary Committee to probe Edo, Delta, and Ogun.

Dr. Major said that while the Edo State chairman came before the Disciplinary Committee, Chief Efe Tobor of Delta State and Comrade Sunday Olappsi Ogini of Ogun State did not.

The NWC made the following decisions on Thursday, April 27, 2023:

“That Delta State NNPP Chairman Chief Efe Tobor and Ogun State Chairman Comrade Olaposi Sunday Ogini have been expelled from the party, with effect from Thursday, April 27, 2023.”

He stated that state, local government, and ward executives in Delta and Ogun states were also dissolved on Thursday, April 27, 2023.

“The expulsion of both Chief Efe Tobor and Comrade Sunday Olaposi Oginni will be submitted before the National Executive Committee and the National Convention for approval,” he said.

“More on these two states and others will be released.”

Our investigator found that while Oginni received great goodwill and considerable financial support from the state party’s gubernatorial candidate, Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, he should have provided more resources to important party members and structures, resulting in a poor election performance.

After publicly accusing him of betraying the NNPP, many members have called for his dismissal.

The party leadership expelled Oginni and his Delta counterpart due to the aforementioned.

The NNPP wants free, fair, credible, transparent, inclusive, and peaceful governorship elections, Dr. Major added.

He said the upcoming elections in Kogi, Imo, and Bayelsa states were crucial for Nigeria’s democracy and that the people’s choice must be respected.

“The party asks INEC to offer a level playing field for all political parties and their candidates participating in the elections and guarantee that every vote is counted in the overall results.”

“This suggests that the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System will perform beautifully, maximally, and ideally.

Nigerians would only tolerate INEC’s poor performance.

“We must do it right this time and return the ship of the nation to the road of rectitude, growth, development, and advancement,” the party stated.
