On Monday, the Attah Igala globally and President, Kogi State Council of Chiefs, HRM Agabaidu (Dr) Mathew Alaji Opaluwa Ogwuche Akpa, congratulated the indigenous Igala people of the US on their successful 2023 Igala Ocho event.

The indigenous Igala people of the USA (Igala kingdom USA) started celebrating the Ocho festival in 2021. This is the third year.

Ocho said it’s wonderful to gather together as essential Igala holidays are observed by numerous Igala communities in Nigeria outside Kogi State to pray for a healthy harvest before farming.

The Attah Igala also prayed for the USA, Brazil, Cuba, and Igala sons and daughters everywhere. The respected monarch also honoured Chief Edibo Idih Abba Nizare, the Onu Igala kingdom USA’s traditional rulers.

His Majesty encouraged them to keep up their Igala customs, including giving their children Igala names.

His Majesty, who was represented by Amb Ayegba Abdullahi Adojoh, the Attah Igala’s General Ambassador of Igala worldwide, added that indigenous Igala people of the USA who are blessed should remember Idah, their origin in development, as that is the home of all Igalas, regardless of their languages, locations, or colour.

Amb Ayegba, the Attah Igala Ambassador and Chief of the Office of Diaspora Igala Affairs, praised the people of the USA, both indigenous and residents, as well as indigenous Igala communities across 31 states of Nigeria, and urged them to continue preserving Igala culture for future generations.

Omachi of Saluda, North Carolina, Iye Emah, Omaonyete Ufedoojo Agula, Abeneche Unyo Ojochamachala, and others will speak at the 2023 USA Ocho festival.

Tours, libations, music, dance, food, and drinks were included. Charleston’s Omah Igala Museum commemorated it. Igala Kingdom USA is headquartered in Charleston.
