NATIONAL YOUTH SERVICE CORPS (NYSC) and National Youth for Women Empowerment and Education in Nigeria (NYWEE) have decided to collaborate in empowering women in Nigeria.
Brig Gen YD Ahmed, Director General of NYSC, announced this recently in his office at Yakubu Gowon House, Maitama, Abuja, while hosting the leadership of NYWEE on a courtesy visit.

The NYSC chief, who remarked that a female child is a bundle of benefits to any community, emphasized that the Scheme has empowered thousands of women over the years via its Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Development (SAED) Programme.

He expressed pleasure with NYWEE’s success in providing assistance to impoverished women and girls around the country and pledged that the two groups would build a powerful alliance that would bring smiles to the cheeks of more disadvantaged women.

Earlier, the National Coordinator of NYWEE, Ambassador Ibrahim Ibrahim, read out the non-governmental organization’s objectives, which include: increasing school enrollment, providing free skill acquisition training and start-up capital, combating drug abuse, reducing domestic violence, combating child trafficking with NAPTIP, and other initiatives geared toward women’s emancipation.

At the conclusion of the interactive session, NYWEE honored the NYSC helmsman as an icon of women’s empowerment in Nigeria.
