President Bola Tinubu has acknowledged that in order to overcome challenges during the election, he called upon the spirits of knowledge and tenacity, symbolised by “Baba Emi lokan.”
He revealed this while on his thank-you trip, which included a stop to the palace of the Awujale of Ijebu-Ode, Sikiru Adetona.
During the visit, Tinubu spoke on the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) naira redesign programme, which was implemented in the run-up to the elections.
The CBN had established February 10 as the cutoff date for the usage of old N200, N500, and N1,000 banknotes despite a court injunction prohibiting enforcement of the deadline. Afterwards, the CBN was instructed by former president Muhammadu Buhari to reissue the old N200 notes.
With regard to money confiscation and the failure of the cashless policy, Tinubu expressed his worries. He remembered asking the king for advice and direction during a previous trip to the palace.
Our money was seized, he revealed. The cashless policy was horrible at the time and didn’t function. I understood that my purpose in visiting this castle was to summon the spirit of freedom for which we are known. I twice called upon that spirit. Baba Emilokan’s spirit. Baba is that. He’ll tell you that’s him: direct and decisive. The second spirit is, “We shall conduct the election and prevail, money or no money.”
Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland, was the destination of President Tinubu’s visit. Tinubu expressed hope for Nigeria’s future under his leadership.
“The hope is recharged; the hope is here,” he informed the populace. That hope is unbreakable. That hope will positively refuel your lives. We will enjoy the results of our effort via the mercy of the Almighty God. Just bear with these painful baby stages, and Nigeria will see great transformation. We have this one nation. My green passport is what I now still have, and I have experience with what it means to be a refugee.
