Nothing about Peter Obi is special. – Omokri

Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has once again launched a verbal assault on Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 elections. This comes in response to the recent disclosure that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has identified 170 former Nigerian governors facing corruption allegations.

Expressing surprise at Obi’s absence from the list, Omokri aimed the LP stalwart, drawing comparisons with other former governors, particularly Dave Umahi, the Minister of Works and former governor of Ebonyi State.

Omokri pointed out that while Umahi spearheaded the construction of over ten schools and implemented youth empowerment initiatives in Ebonyi, Obi allegedly failed to initiate similar developmental projects during his tenure as Anambra State governor.

In a series of social media posts, Omokri highlighted other governors who, in his view, outperformed Obi and were not implicated in EFCC investigations. He underscored that being excluded from the EFCC list didn’t necessarily exonerate Obi, citing instances where Obi was mentioned negatively, such as in Pandora’s Papers and his detention at Heathrow Airport.

Omokri asserted that Obi’s record didn’t measure up to the achievements of governors like Donald Duke, Tunde Fashola, Seye Makinde, Babagana Zulum, and others, who he claimed built schools and weren’t implicated in corruption scandals.

In summary, Omokri contended that Obi’s governance fell short compared to his peers and urged people to recognize other governors for their outstanding performances instead.
