Alhaji Mohammed Idris, Minister of Information and National Orientation, lamented citizens’ declining values.

He called it worrisome and stressed value reorientation.

On Wednesday, Sardauna Ahmadu Bello Memorial Foundation members paid a courtesy visit to his Abuja office.

The minister said our patriotism needs improvement for national growth and development. He praised the northern state governors for establishing the Foundation to honour Sir Ahmadu Bello, the former Northern Region Premier.

He urged the Foundation to “join the effort to take Nigerians through a process of rediscovery and to retrace our steps towards the vision of our forefathers” and restore Sardauna values.

The minister said President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wanted leaders to restore public trust in governance.

He commended their scholarship, health outreach, and educational development efforts.

The Foundation’s leader, former Kano State governor Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, said the Ministry of Information and National Orientation is a crucial platform for national contributions.

“We commissioned a study on education in the northern states, and now that the report is ready, we want to share its findings at a National Conference on Education on October 10, 2023, where all education agencies and stakeholders will attend,” he said.
