Online rumours that the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) had outlawed Indomie Instant Noodles were denied. The regulatory agency stated this on Monday through its Director-General, Mrs. Mojisola Adeyeye, a professor and chemist. She mentioned that Taiwanese and Malaysian health officials highlighted the items as possibly containing ethylene oxide traces that are not registered in Nigeria. NAFDAC has stated that it will test Nigerian-made noodles to make sure they don’t contain ethylene oxide.

The Director-General asserts that “NAFDAC did not outlaw Indomie Instant Noodles made in Nigeria. Numerous regional producers have registered with NAFDAC, and the Indomie noodles have received food safety certification. Our domestic manufacturers have nothing to do with the noodles from Malaysia and Taiwan.

The declaration reassures customers that the regulation prohibited the product after they were subjected to a number of deceptive publications. After health officials in Taiwan and Malaysia allegedly discovered ethylene oxide, a substance linked to cancer, in Indomie’s “special chicken” flavour, a flood of local publications appeared.

Tope Ashiwaju, group corporate communications and event manager at Dufil Prima Foods Limited, commented on the situation, saying, “We would like to assure our valued customers in Nigeria that all packs of Indomie Instant Noodles consumed in Nigeria are produced locally under strict international best manufacturing practises with ISO certified standards.

We are steadfast in our dedication to following international standards for production, and we won’t compromise on the quality of any instant noodle pack made in any of our facilities in Nigeria.

In all of our manufacturing processes, we strictly abide by the guidelines established by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON). He added that our production facilities are routinely examined and audited to ensure that they meet the highest standards. “We utilise only the finest ingredients, purchased from reliable vendors.

Nigerian company Dufil Prima Foods Ltd has been manufacturing the Indomie Instant Noodles that have been used there for over three decades.
