Day three of the Nigerian Idol tryouts showcased more excellent singers. Nigerian Idol season eight awarded a record-breaking 94 golden tickets in 48 hours (presented on TV over 2 weeks). With so many great contestants, this season’s competition will be intense.
DG Tycoon, a fashion-loving student, auditioned first. However, the judges, especially Simi, gave him a stern “NO” for his singing. Reigneth, on the other hand, sang Andra Day’s “Rise Up” to the judges’ approval.
Sapphire Whinnas’ performance of Michael Buble’s “Feeling Good” also earned him a golden ticket. Some competitors were rejected for poor singing.
All three judges gave Akinwande, a TV producer, composer, and musician, a triple YES for his self-written song. The judges unanimously rejected Paul Bielonwu’s performance of Timi Dakolo’s “Iyawo Mi” on saxophone.
Shemilore Eniola Tabitha, 16, won a golden ticket and a spot in theatre week with her Adele cover. Goodness, Soultunes, Amaka, and Yella, advanced to the next round.
Theatre week was considerably harder because participants had to study and perform 12 songs for the judges swiftly. Several cracked under strain, and only a few advanced to the following round.
Despite the hurdles, this season’s ability was evident, and contestants who advanced were celebrated. Disappointments were hard to take, with so many going home.
The show debuts an interesting new part next week. The contestants’ duets in the next episode will delight spectators. This week’s performances were inspiring, and next week’s will be better. Expect a fantastic experience. Competition is stiff, and only the best will succeed.
