Yesterday, NEMA announced it would begin evacuating Nigerians from Sudan today. From Khartoum to Cairo, Egypt, the agency will evacuate via vehicle.

NEMA planned to evacuate 2,650–2,800 pupils, diplomatic workers, and their families first. In a Channels interview yesterday, NEMA Director of Special Duties Dr. Onimode Bandele confirmed this. He replied, “The reality is, nobody has been evacuated yet.

“I just spoke to the Ambassador in Khartoum, Olaniyan, a few minutes ago, and the truth is, there are plans to get buses to start movement tomorrow (Tuesday) morning, and as I speak with you, the Director General of NEMA, Mustapha Ahmed, is already in Cairo because that is the window we are looking at.

“Luxor and another town

The Embassy in Khartoum and the DG NEMA in Cairo must improve the movement. “Our forecast was both students and others; they are roughly 5000, but from my chat with the Ambassador this morning, the plan is for 5,000,” he added of the evacuation figures.
