NDLEA stops skunk in native black soap with tramadol pills in women’s hair headed for the UK

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stopped a shipment of 3.20kg of skunk headed to the UK and hidden in native black soap.

The narcotics were discovered on Wednesday at the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) export shed of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos, according to a statement from NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi on Sunday.

According to him, an individual involved in the attempt to export the illegal narcotic was detained.

Similarly, NDLEA agents foiled a cargo agent’s attempt to use the MMIA to ship 3,000 tramadol 225mg pills to Monrovia, Liberia, hidden among women’s hair accessories.

Mr Babafemi claimed that the agent was taken into custody by NDLEA agents as they processed passengers at the Terminal 2 departure gate of the Lagos airport.

A suspect in Benue was also detained on Thursday with 61,790 tramadol pills during a regular vehicle stop and search at the Vandeikya checkpoint.

Mr. Babafemi reported that a second suspect was apprehended with 208 kg of cannabis concealed in his Toyota Camry with the licence plate ABJ 117 MR in Otuo-Agor, Owan East LGA, Edo.

“A 35-year-old guy was found with 1,500 Tramadol and Swinol pills as well as 235 bottles of codeine syrup totalling 23.5 litres on Friday along the Owerri-Onitsha motorway in Imo.

“NDLEA agents in Ondo state detained two suspects at B-Ali Junction with 30 kg of marijuana.

“On June 6 when officers searched certain drug joints in the town, 10.4kg of the same material were found from the home of a fleeing suspect at Oke Odowo, Idanre,” he said.

In the meantime, two middle-aged people were detained on Thursday in Kebbi with 5.9 kg of cannabis and 3,792 diazepam tablets in Goran Maiyaki, Gwandu LGA.

According to Mr Babafemi, an 18-year-old guy was apprehended on Friday while carrying 6kg of cannabis and 658 diazepam tablets along the Mararaban Yauri-Kebbi road.

He stated that a suspect in Araromi Oke Odo in Ife South LGA, Osun, was found with 115.9 kg of cannabis.

He further stated that two individuals were apprehended on Monday in the same LGA’s Gbokuta village.
