NASS Leadership: Northern group insists G-7 is not against Tinubu

The G-7 is okay with the incoming president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the selection of House of Representatives presiding officers, according to the northern group Tinubu/Shettima for Greater Nigeria (TSGN).

G-7 is made up of disgruntled House of Representatives speaker candidates who are against the All Progressives Congress’ zoning plan (APC).

In a statement released on Monday, the national president and secretary of the TSGN, Negedu Miringi, charged Femi Gbajabiamila, speaker of the House of Representatives, with engineering the impasse.

They warned Tinubu to avoid Gbajabiamila, claiming that his desperate attempts to push unpopular nominees on members would derail the new administration.

G-7 is interested in Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s success. They were the ones who genuinely contributed to his selection as the APC’s presidential candidate and his subsequent triumph in the actual general elections.

“All all odds, the majority of these candidates won over Tinubu’s supporters in the polls. Some even conspired against their brothers running as candidates for other political parties in order to help Tinubu and the APC win their senatorial districts.

“Abbas and Kalu support Femi Gbajabiamila, who is planning to become Tinubu’s chief of staff. Femi is desperate for Abbas and Benjamin Kalu to be elected Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives, and he would do all in his power to ruin things for Tinubu. Femi wants Abbas and Kalu at the helm of operations in the House of Representatives for his own self-interest.

What role did Abbas play in helping Tinubu win the APC nomination when he teamed up with Rotimi Amaechi during the party’s primary elections?

“What role did Benjamin Kalu play in helping Tinubu become the country’s next president while he was running for president against Peter Obi of the Labour Party?

“You can’t hit a child and expect him not to cry. The G-7 totally supports Tinubu, and their complaint shouldn’t be interpreted as being against the President-elect.

“These candidates should be considered when choosing who will hold whatever office in the 10th Legislature; after all, they are the faithful Tinubu men, not those who wish to reap what they have not sown.

The statement read, “Tinubu and APC should be weary of Femi Gbajabiamila; he wants to destroy APC and Tinubu administration through his selfish interest in the 10th National Assembly. Otherwise, why can’t he allow peace and democracy to prevail in the Assembly? Why can’t he allow lawmakers to choose who governs them?
