NAF plane crashes while travelling to Niger

Nigerian Air Force aircraft crashed.

On Monday, sources informed our reporter that the aircraft left Kaduna for Minna, the Niger state capital.

The NAF Director of Public Affairs and Communications, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, confirmed the event on Monday, saying the aircraft left Zungeru Primary School en route to Kaduna but crashed in a town in Shiroro Local Government Area, Niger.

A Nigerian Air Force MI-171 helicopter on a casualty evacuation mission crashed today, August 14, 2023, at around 1.1.00 pm Chukuba Village in Niger State.

“The aeroplane left Zungeru Primary School for Kaduna but crashed near Chukuba Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.”

Gabkwet stated pilots and passengers are being rescued.

“Efforts are presently underway to rescue the helicopter’s crew and passengers, while preliminary investigations have begun to ascertain the crash’s likely cause,” the statement said.
