Atiku Abubakar, the candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, has vowed that his legal team will demonstrate that the 2023 election was rigged.
Atiku responded to the Supreme Court’s decision on Friday to deny Kashim Shettima’s request to be disqualified as the All Progressives Congress’ vice presidential nominee due to a conflict of interest with another candidate.
The Peoples Democratic Party lacked locus standing to bring the lawsuit, according to a five-member panel of the supreme court. The panel concluded that the PDP is not an APC member.
Atiku responded to the decision by restating that his legal team would do whatever it took to show that the 2023 presidential election was rigged.
On his own Twitter account, he announced this.
“The Supreme Court’s dismissal of the OfficialPDPNig lawsuit is not a setback to my pursuit of justice,” he declared. Our legal team is prepared to make a strong case that the election on February 25 was rigged, did not adhere to the Constitution’s standards and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s electoral procedures, and that the declared victor was not even eligible to contest the election.
“I have given my all in the fight for democracy and the installation of a new system to promote growth and development in Nigeria, and at this juncture, when our country is at a turning point, I’m not ready to give up. We are confident that our great Justices will provide the ruling that will serve as a dignified requiem for mandate bandits sooner rather than later.
“I request patience from my followers and ask that they keep the calm as we rigorously pursue our legal action at the Presidential Election Tribunal Court.
