The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria were beaten 1-0 in the 2023 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Algeria on Wednesday as a result of an early strike from Abdel Maali.
The Eaglets and Morocco entered the match with wins over South Africa and Zambia.
Maali broke the tie that the Moroccans maintained till the very end of the game, barely two minutes into the contest.
The Eaglets had a few opportunities to tie the game up again but didn’t take advantage of them.
Abdullahi Abubakar had a wonderful opportunity in the 21st minute but missed from close range.
For example, Emmanuel Michael and Favour Daniel had opportunities to score but were unsuccessful.
To qualify to the quarterfinals, the Eaglets must overcome South Africa in their last Group B game.
The four teams that advance to the U-17 AFCON semi-finals will be guaranteed a spot in the FIFA World Cup.
