Dele Momodu, a prominent figure in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has voiced concerns over what he perceives as attempts by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to undermine the opposition party.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today, Momodu attributed all challenges faced by the opposition to the APC’s actions. He asserted that the APC is employing various tactics, including coercion and destabilization, to weaken the PDP.
Momodu also criticized President Bola Tinubu for allegedly stifling opposition voices despite his background as a prominent opposition leader in Lagos. He lamented the irony of a former opposition leader now suppressing dissenting voices in government.
The ongoing crisis within the PDP has resulted in the defection of some members, including former Imo State governor Emeka Ihedioha, who cited the party’s failure to effectively serve as an opposition. Momodu echoed Ihedioha’s sentiment, emphasizing that the APC orchestrates the PDP’s struggles to fulfill its opposition role.
As a presidential aspirant within the PDP, Momodu underscored the need for the party to address internal issues exacerbated by external pressures from the APC to reclaim its position as a formidable opposition force.
