Ahmad Lawan, the Senate’s president, has expressed his sorrow on the passing of media mogul Dr. Raymond Dokpesi.
Given his significant contributions to politics and the development of private media in Nigeria and Africa, Lawan characterised the passing of the creator of Africa Independent Television (AIT) and Raypower FM Radio as a significant loss to the Nigerian polity and media sector.
According to Lawan, it is to Dokpesi’s credit that he founded the first privately owned radio station in Nigeria, the first private satellite television network in Africa, and the first private television network in Nigeria, according to a statement made on Monday and signed by the Media Advisor to the Senate President, Ola Awoniyi.
“I express my condolences to Dr. Raymond Dokpesi’s immediate family, AIT/Ray power FM radio personnel, and the media sector at large on this tragic loss.
They should all take comfort in the fact that Dr. Dokpesi had success in business, politics, and the media and had a happy life, Lawan remarked.
He asked God to offer him rest hereafter and console his loved ones.
