Arsenal are the latest team linked with a summer deal for Mason Mount, according to football.london.
The England star may have hinted to a former teammate about his next move. In January 2023, Arsenal signed veteran holding midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea for £12 million on deadline day.
Football.london says Jorginho was a great servant to the Blues and played with Mount in Chelsea’s engine room for three-and-a-half years, helping the team win the Champions League in 2021. Mount wrote, “Gonna miss you, Papai,” after Jorginho left earlier this year.
Arsenal may have the upper hand if they give Mount the chance to reconnect with Jorginho at the Emirates Stadium. Arsenal are also the favourites to recruit West Ham midfielder Declan Rice, Mount’s best friend on and off the pitch, which may be enticing for both.
Mount is still in discussions with Chelsea, but no deal is imminent, which has placed some teams on notice. Liverpool, led by Jurgen Klopp, is also interested in signing him.
